A man and woman are behind bars after allegedly stealing toys from a Toys for Tots Drop-Off Box in Princeton.

Bobby Ray Thorton and Brenda Mathena were arrested on December 8 after reportedly taking bags of toys from the Grants Crossroads location.

According to Detective Butler with the Princeton Police Department, they received a call about a possible theft at Grants. Upon reviewing security footage, officers saw the suspects taking two trash bags full of toys from the store. Employees claimed they saw the suspects drive away in red pick up truck.

Police were able to locate the owner of the truck who told officers he just gave the suspects a ride to a nearby gas station. The officers were eventually able to locate the suspects and the stolen toys at their residence in Bluefield, West Virginia.

Both Thorton and Mathena were charged with conspiracy and petit larceny.
