A traffic stop by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of two wanted people.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was conducting traffic stops in the Scarbro area Monday evening. The deputy stopped a white Jeep on the intersection of Scarbro Loop and Cafego Road.

The deputy discovered that the driver, Jessica Harrah, had active felony warrants out of Raleigh County for Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. The male passenger repeatedly gave the deputy false identities and then took off on foot, over fences and through yards.

The passenger, Aaron Fortner, was eventually caught and placed under arrest. He was charged with Fleeing an Officer, Obstructing, and Simple Possession of Narcotics. Fortner also had an outstanding Bench Warrant from the Fayette County Circuit Court for Probation Violation.

Harrah was also arrested and held in the Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond. Fortner will be held until he can be seen by the Circuit Court regarding the Bench Warrant.
