DHHR accepting applications for low income energy assistance program


CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources will begin to accept applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), which assists eligible state residents in paying home heating bills. 

Applications will be accepted from Monday, January 29 until Friday, February 2, or until funds are exhausted. 

Eligibility is based on income, household size and whether or not the household is responsible for paying its home heating bill. 

Income must be at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level for household size. 

The maximum allowable gross income levels per household size for LIEAP are as follows: 

-1 Person – $1,508

-2 Person – $2,030

-3 Person – $2,553

-4 Person – $3,075

-5 Person – $3,598

-6 Person – $4,120

-7 Person – $4,643

-8 Person – $5,165

-9 Person – $5,688 

-10 Person – $6,210

Applications can be obtained at a local DHHR office, community action agency, or senior center operated by any Area Agency on Aging. 

They are also available online at www.wvinroads.org

Completed applications must be delivered or mailed to the DHHR office located in the applications county of residence. Applications must be received or postmarked by February 2.
