A three vehicle accident has down Interstate 79 north bound in Monongalia County for most of the morning Friday.
It happened around 8:00 a.m., near mile marker 151, backing up traffic for miles.
The driver of a car traveling south lost control and crossed the median, hitting two vehicles in the north bound lanes, sheriff’s deputies said.
Two women and an infant were injured and were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital by Monongalia Count EMS, deputies said.
The extent of the injuries are unknown, but no deaths were reported.
It was originally reported that some of the victims were trapped in a vehicle.
The interstate reopened after 11:00 a.m., but traffic remained congested for a time.
