Federal inmate sentenced for having “shank”

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A sentencing hearing was held in Beckley on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 for a federal inmate. Joshua Allen, 29, will serve 12 additional months for being an inmate in possession of a weapon.

Allen admitted he had a “shank” on Dec. 7, 2018 while he was an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Beckley. A staff member at the prison found the homemade knife after Allen attempted to get rid of it.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons investigated the crime.
