News

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — The Lewisburg Fire Department received a call that a maintenance team ruptured a gas line around noon, Oct. 16, 2019.

The fire department, along with Fairlea EMS, responded to the scene. The leak was near the corner of Court Street and Feamster Street.

Jacob Teubert, Lewsburg Firefighter, said it was initially reported as a six inch pipe. When firemen arrived on scene, they discovered it was a 3 inch pipe.

“We immediately shut down all traffic on Court Street as well as Preston Street, and evacuated the immediate area,” Teubert said. “Mountaineer Gas was notified and had an exceptional response time.”

The pipe is fixed and both streets are back open to traffic. Officials said if anyone smell eggs, contact the local fire department.
