News

WELCH, WV (WVNS)– On Friday, Oct. 18, the Mount View Golden Knights will be playing on their home field for the last time. After Friday, the Golden Knights will play on a brand new turf field at the high school.

Director of Facilities, Will Chapman said for many years, people have been asking and fundraising for a new football field and it has finally become a reality for the McDowell County school.

“Very awesome. I think it will benefit the youth programs as well, you know we have youth soccer league here and they have a hard time finding a decent place to be,” Chapman said. “It’s going to benefit the whole community and I think it will be something the community can rally around as well.”

Mt. View will hold a field dedication on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at the high school. The Golden Knights (3-3) will host Tug Valley (3-3) on Friday night in Welch.
