LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — The Lewisburg area is getting a sports complex. Named the “Sportsplex,” it will stand on a 130 plus acre site.

It already cost the commission about $1 million to get started.

Commissioners will be working with grant writers and with county money to get this project completed within the next few years.

President of Greenbrier County Commission, Lowell Rose, said bringing this complex to the area will be a great addition with all of the activities it will bring.

“There’s a four ballfield quadraplex… exactly like the one in Charleston that was just built,” Rose said. “That covers about 17 acres: a parking area and 3 regulation size soccer fields.”

The Sportsplex will also have more than three miles of walking trails and disc golf.

Rose said he hopes to add other activities over time.
