WASHINGTON, D.C. (WVNS) — An elementary school in Beckley is one of three in the Mountain State to receive national recognition. Hollywood Elementary was named a National Blue Ribbon School.
The designation comes from the U.S. Department of Education. It was announced by U.S. Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV-3) on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019.
“Our children are our future, and our educators play a crucial role in preparing them to enter the world,” said Congresswoman Miller. “Congratulations to Hollywood Elementary School for being named a Blue Ribbon School. This achievement could not have been made without the hard work of every teacher, student, administrator, and family member.”
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program affirms the hard work of communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students can master challenging content. The other two schools in West Virginia which received the honor were Greenmont Elementary School in Vienna and West Teays Elementary School in Hurricane.
