Local group performs African drums at Lewisburg Chocolate Festival

The Lewisburg Chocolate Festival was a lot more than just sweet treats.

Live entertainment was a huge part of the festival. The Greenbrier Academy for Girls Performance Group performed for festival goers on Saturday afternoon.

They are a drumming group that play a variety of African rythms and chants, a talent they brought back home after a mission trip to West Africa. Drummer Rachel Brent said getting out and playing for the community is always a great opportunity.

“We prepared a lot for this and I think it is really good for our group to come perform,” Brent said. “We have a lot of performances coming up and it is a really good bonding experience.”

The group practices daily and performs at various festivals and events throughout the area.
