An ongoing project in Raleigh County is encouraging people to utilize the Lewis McNamus Trail. Bike Beckley is part of a mini-grant from ‘Try This West Virginia.’

It’s a statewide coalition of local leaders to help get our state off the country’s worst health lists. The bike initiative has grown into partnerships with WVU Tech and Active Southern West Virginia to hold bike rodeos and raise funds.

“It’s just a great asset to the community. It runs all the way through town, we have some bike repair stations that were just installed on the trail which makes it convenient for people to use the trail and bike also for walking,” Community Outreach Leader for Active SWV, Erin Reid, said.

Active Southern West Virginia is hosting a group bike ride May 7, 2018  at 5 p.m. on the Lewis McNamus Trail. The group will be meeting at the 3rd Avenue station prior to the ride.
