PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — Princeton Middle School was dancing along to their fight song played by their band on Wednesday, October 16. They were celebrating a grant that provided $38,000 worth of musical equipment to the band.
It is all a part of the Save The Music Foundation grant. The foundation also teamed up with the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History. The two created a statewide initiative to eventually provide this grant to every middle school in West Virginia.
Chiho Feindler works with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation and traveled from New York to make the big announcement.
“We believe that the music education, along with arts education, is the whole child. Not just the math and English, and everything is important but students need a passion,” Feindler said.
Three other schools also recieived this grant on Wednesday. They are Western Greenbrier Middle School, Peterstown Middle School, and Oceana Middle School.
