CORINNE, WV (WVNS) — Tuesday, October 22, 2019 6:15 p.m. UPDATE: A father and son in Wyoming County are accused of unspeakable acts of sexual abuse against children that went on for several years.
Court documents tell a disturbing tale of abuse that spanned ten years, crossed county lines, and invaded what should have been safe spaces. Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Michael Cochrane, said, his office found probable cause to move forward with the case.
“Given the standpoint of the severe allegations we went through intense forensic interviews. Based upon that we felt that we had probable cause to move forward and file criminal complaints against two individuals,” Cochrane explained.
On Friday, October 19, 2019, West Virginia State Troopers in Wyoming County arrested Nathaniel Keiling on 40 counts of sexual assault. In August, they arrested his father, Francis Keiling, on 52 counts of the same crime.
“There have been studies that show if a child was perpetrated on when they were a minor, they had perpetrated against somebody else when they grew up in the future,” Cochrane said.
Nathaniel Keiling allegedly raped two young girls over the course of several years in Raleigh and Wyoming Counties. The victims told investigators they were assaulted daily for 10 years by both Nathaniel and Francis.
Reports stated the young victims were subjected to not only sexual abuse, but educational neglect and poor living conditions. According to court documents, Francis continued to contact, threaten and abuse at least one victim after they were removed by protective services. The reports also states it happened three times at a Beckley church.
“It is very important that this was resolved and these children were put somewhere we believe they are very safe at this time,” said Cochrane
Nathaniel Keiling is being held at Southern Regional Jail on $100,000 bond. He faces 20 counts of sexual assault, and 20 counts of sexual assault by parent, guardian, or person of trust. Each count carries a sentence of five to fifteen years.
