Man detained after pointing gun at officers, police pursuit

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Law enforcement officers have detained a suspect after he allegedly pointed a long gun at an officer and led them on a cross-county pursuit.

According to dispatchers, a man in a stolen white ford expedition pointed a long gun at an officer at around 2 p.m.

The vehicle then led police westbound on I-64 through Kanawha County and Putnam County.

At some point in the pursuit, a Division of Highways vehicle was stolen.

The pursuit came to an end when the driver crashed on Hurricane Creek Road, about two miles outside of Hurricane, WV.

Law enforcement from the South Charleston Police Department, Charleston Police Department, West Virginia State Troopers, and Putnam County Sheriff’s Department were all involved in the pursuit.
