Man stabbed after starting fight in Bluefield convenience store

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) – A man was stabbed after a fight broke out at a convenience store in Bluefield, WV.

Bluefield police said it happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday July 27, 2019. 30-year-old Raymond Harris was intoxicated when he walked into the Joy Mart on Bluefield Ave. and began arguing with the store clerk.

Surveillance footage shows the argument turned physical when Harris tried to go behind the counter. The store clerk is seen pulling a knife out of his pocket and stabbing Harris.

Police said Harris was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated for knife wounds to the neck and chest. Police are now reviewing evidence with the prosecuting attorney to determine if charges need to be filed.
