The Marshall University football game against the South Carolina Gamecocks has been canceled as the Carolina Coastline prepares for the impact of Hurricane Florence.
Marshall (2-0) was scheduled to make the trip down to Columbia, SC for a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Saturday September 15th. The University of South Carolina has canceled that game after reviewing forecasts that show the potential for a greater impact on South Carolina from Hurricane Florence.
The cancelation of the game will free up hotel rooms across the Columbia region for evacuees and allows emergency personnel to be utilized in areas impacted by the storm.
The Herd will now shift their focus towards the NC State Wolfpack, who ironically, will take a week off because of the impending weather. NC State was scheduled to take on the WVU Mountaineers on Saturday in Raleigh, NC. The NC State vs. Marshall game will be played in Huntington on Saturday September 22nd.
