The Maxwelton Ruritan Club has been an organization for more than 60 years in Greenbrier County. They have an ice cream stand set up at the State Fair of West Virginia.  All of the proceeds they make at the shop go back to the people in need in Greenbrier County.

Debbie Bowman is a member of the club in Greenbrier County. She said she loved giving back to the community she lives in.

“It is wonderful because all our members are local. We have all lived here all our lives and we just like to give back anyway that we can. We do get monetary donations but we also do adopt a highway and we help with any other projects that are local,” Bowman said.

Back in 2018 the Maxwelton Ruritan Club gave money to Eastern Greenbrier Middle School for new band uniforms, Davis Stuart School, Central Greenbrier Little League, Penny Pitch, Christman for a Knight, Project Graduation, Red Cross, Child and Youth Advocacy Center and more. Bowman said the most money they give out is for scholarships to help students go to college.
