BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A new $30 million YMCA facility is coming to Beckley.
Jay Rist, who is the CEO of YMCA Southern West Virginia, made the announcement and unveiled plans Monday morning. Rist said the new YMCA will be located up on the hill at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex.
The two-story building will include two pools, a lazy river, basketball and tennis courts, exercise classrooms, weight room, rock wall, two sand volleyball courts outside and much more.
Rist said so far they have raised $26 million of the $30 million needed to build the facility. They hope to raise the other $4 million through private donations from the community.
“This is a 30 million dollar project so a lot of the leg work has been done that means we have already secured 26 million dollars for the project if we can raise 4 million here locally we will get a brand new Y,” Rist said.
Rist said they hope to break ground October 2018 and have the building complete by the Spring 2020.
