Oktoberfest earnings help world disaster relief

COOL RIDGE, WV (WVNS) — Weathered Ground Brewery teamed up with Saint Luke Lutheran Church for this year’s annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 12.

The church and brewery have worked together to make it an annual event. This year, Church Council President, Jim Sheatsley said they decided to raise money for the Lutheran World Relief fund which provides disaster relief around the world.

“I think the people are here because they are coming to Weathered Ground, and they’re coming to hear the music, and its an extra opportunity for them,” Sheatsley added. “The meal that they are having supports our project, Lutheran World Relief, because the food and everything provided here has been donated.”

Weathered Ground unveiled a new beer just for the event. The church made authentic German food.

If that didn’t fill guests up enough, a chili cook off began at 5:00 p.m. There was plenty of live music and a whole lot of fun to be had for the family.
