UPDATE: Chase bank robbery suspect arrested in NC for same crime


BECKLEY, WV (wVNS)– 8/25/19 10 a.m. UPDATE: A man who allegedly robbed a bank in Beckley has been arrested in North Carolina for the same crime.

Beckley Police said 29-year-old Jacob Corey Johnson of Lexington, KY is the man who robbed Chase Bank on Robert C. Byrd Drive on Saturday, August 10, 2019.

According to Detective David Allard with Beckley Police, Johnson was arrested in North Carolina after allegedly robbing a bank in the Raleigh area. Police said Johnson will be extradited to West Virginia to face bank robbery charges, which carries 10 to 25 years in prison.

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — 8/10/19 3:20 p.m. UPDATE: Beckley Police is asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in connection to today’s bank robbery.

Pictured above, the white man with brown hair stands anywhere from 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches. He has a medium build and full beard was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, gray pants and black boots.

Anyone with information is urged to call Beckley Police or Crimestoppers of West Virginia.

ORIGINAL STORY: Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a robbery in progress in Beckley.

Dispatchers confirmed the call came from the Chase Bank on Robert C. Byrd Drive at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Beckley Police officers, Raleigh County Sheriff’s deputies, and West Virginia State troopers responded.
