BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — For Raleigh County schools there are just a few days of summer vacation remaining.
On Saturday, August 10, the Raleigh County School Board held its first ever School Resource and Wellness Fair, which allowed parents and students to come and meet teachers and get school supplies.
Assistant Superintendent Serena Starcher said it is a great way to get the first day of school’s jitters out of the way.
“It’s so important,” Starcher said. “I have a little boy myself. Everyone has jitters. Teachers… kids… parents have jitters, so we just thought this day would be a day were everyone could come out… and hopefully reduce [them].”
Students were also able to get free haircuts before starting school on Wednesday, August 14.
