After spending four years representing West Virginia’s 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives, Evan Jenkins (R-WV) will be stepping down.  The congressman is being sworn in to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.

Before Rep. Jenkins can take that position he must give up his seat in Congress.  He announced he will be taking that action on Sunday, Sept. 30.  He spoke on the House floor Thursday to discuss the work he and his staff accomplished during the last four years.

“I have been blessed these last four years to represent West Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District, but now country roads are calling me home,” said Rep. Jenkins.  “My state is facing a crisis in our judicial system and I believe back home is where I’m needed most to best serve the people of West Virginia.”
