Tailgate Halloween provides safer trick-or-treat experience

News

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Youth Museum in Beckley has been hosting Tailgate Halloween for more than 30 years, and this year will be another fun event.

Tailgate Halloween will have over 40 vendors handing out halloween candy to kids as they trick-or-treat through the Beckley Intermodal Gateway.

Director of Parks and Recreation in Beckley, Leslie Baker, said the event provides a safer area for kids to trick-or-treat, so they do not get injured being out in the dark.

“Not all neighborhoods are conducive to trick-or-treating, a lot of places that don’t have sidewalks and don’t have street lights,” Baker said. “We have more rural areas as well. So, it was just a way for those children who don’t have that kind of neighborhood to go out in.”

Tailgate Halloween is Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway. It costs $1 to participate.
