UPDATE: June 25, 2019 1:30 p.m. Medical Examiner identifies human remains found in Mercer county.
West Virginia State Police confirm Human remains found in the Elgood mountain area this week have been identified as Amanda Presutti.
The remains were taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office, Monday June 24. 2019. Troopers at the Princeton detachment said the investigation began on Thursday, June 20, 2019 when human remains were located in the southeastern portion of the county. They searched the area through the weekend and uncovered more remains on Monday.
Presutti is a 34-year-old female from Princeton. She was reported missing on June 9, 2019 to Princeton State Police Detachment.
Troopers say they suspect foul play as this is an ongoing investigation. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact the Princeton State Police Detachment at 304-425-2101.
PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — Troopers with the West Virginia State Police are investigating a case where human remains were found in Mercer County. Details on the case are still limited.
Troopers said the investigation began on Thursday, June 20, 2019 when human remains were located in the southeastern portion of the county. This is near the border with Virginia in the general area of Glen Lyn. The search continued through the weekend and more remains were uncovered by searchers.
The body parts were taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for identification. There is no word on the name of the person or their gender at this time.
Over the weekend troopers used cadaver dogs to help in the search. They used a helicopter on Monday, June 24. The case is still under investigation by the West Virginia State Police and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
