LATEST: Murder suspect caught in Ohio


19-year-old Kenneth Adkins is wanted as a suspect in the murder of Josh Williams and Dalton Ramsey.

LASHMEET, WV (WVNS) — 10:45 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 UPDATE: Law enforcement officers arrested Kenneth Adkins.

Detectives with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department determined Adkins was in Ohio. The U.S. Marshal Service and CUFFED Task Force assisted the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department in his arrest.

Adkins is charged with two counts of first degree murder.

LASHMEET, WV (WVNS) — 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 UPDATE: Detectives in Mercer County announced they have warrants for the arrest of the suspect in the murder of who men in the Lashmeet area. According to Det. Steven Sommers, Kenneth Adkins is facing two counts of First Degree Murder.

4 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 UPDATE: The names of two people killed in Mercer County were released by Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler on Thursday afternoon. Josh Williams and Dalton Ramsey were found dead on Reese Harmon Ridge Road around 6:30 a.m.

Kenneth Jacob Adkins, 19, is the suspect in the case. Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler said the shooting appears to be drug or gang related.

“It appears to be another gang related drug related shooting and we’ll keep you advised as anymore developments, I think you we have a photograph for you to show,” Sitler said. “If anybody sees Kenneth Jacob Adkins or has any information about their whereabouts call the 911 center and ask to speak to detective stpehen summers at the mercer county sheriffs department.

ORIGINAL STORY (9 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020) — Two people are dead after a shooting in Mercer County.

Dispatchers confirmed the call came at 6:33 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 for shots fired near Reese Harmon Ridge Road in the Lashmeet area.

Joe Parks, Chief Deputy for the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed two people were dead when deputies arrived on scene. Princeton Rescue Squad also responded.

Further details, including possible suspects and motives, are unknown at this time.

Deputies are still on scene.
