Church to give away 48,000 pounds of sweet potatoes to food pantries

WISE, VA – A church in southwest Virginia will deliver tens of thousands of pounds of sweet potatoes to help out local food pantries in Wise County and surrounding areas.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that Maple Gap Church from Richlands Virginia will deliver around 48,000 pounds of sweet potatoes to the Glamorgan Chapel parking lot in Wise, Va.

The sheriff’s office is encouraging church food pantries, homeless shelters and advocacy centers to come pick up some of the potatoes. Bags will be provided at pickup.

The potatoes will be delivered Thursday, May 31st at 8 a.m. Contact information is in the Facebook post above.
