CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia woman has been cited after a loaded handgun was detected in a bag at an airport.

The Transportation Security Administration said TSA officers spotted the handgun Saturday at Charleston’s Yeager Airport.

A statement released by the TSA said the woman was not ticketed to fly but had received an airline gate pass to escort a ticketed passenger to the gate. After the .380-caliber handgun loaded with five bullets was spotted at a security checkpoint, TSA officials notified airport police who cited her on weapons charges.

The woman is a Beckley resident. Her name was not released.
