ATHENS, WV (WVNS) – It is National Chemistry Week and students at Concord University decided to celebrate!
In honor of National Chemistry Week and the 150th anniversary of the periodic table, the American Chemistry Society at Concord made a cupcake periodic table.
Students passing through the student center on campus could grab a cupcake and learn a little about something that makes up a large part of chemistry. Melinda Goda, Faith Kidd, and Shannon Joins spent hours working on the table to spread a little knowledge.
“The end goal is just to really raise awareness for chemistry and the periodic table because we really want to emphasize how important this day is, and how important this particular year is for chemistry and chemists, and the people that use chemistry in their everyday lives,” Kidd said.
The periodic table is a tool all chemists use in their daily lives and careers.
