With Valentines Day coming up quick, doing a favorite hobby or activity can be a fitting way to celebrate the holiday.
For powerlifting enthusiasts, a meet called “Cupid and Kilos” seemed just right. While others competed for a win, some saw who they can win over. Active Fitness employee, Seth Gunnoe, said this is the perfect time of the year to have an event like this.
“Everyone likes to mingle, especially on Valentines Day, single people,” Gunnoe said.
Active Fitness in Oak Hill frequently holds these kinds of competitions. Around 15 weightlifters went head-to-head to see who could score the best, doing a bench, squat, and deadlift.
“It is pretty awesome to have this many people from beckley come out,” Gunnoe said. “It is pretty cool.”
Amanda Mullins told 59 News she does CrossFit and weightlifting for four years and counting. Whenever she can get the chance to lift, she is all for it.
“It is just fun for me,” Mullins said. “I love to compete and the vibe is always awesome around these. It is fun.”
