Dogs at the New River Humane Society have a brand new exercise area.

Construction was completed Tuesday, February 26, 2019 for the new dog play yard, funded by a grant from the Animal Farm Foundation. The yard will be used to help socialize the dogs, and give them more time out of their cages.

New River Humane Society Director, Brett Kees, said the yard is already instrumental in the dogs’ well being.

“It really can make a world of difference for some of the undersocialized animals that come in here, some of the fearful animals that come in here. It’s a game changer for us because it lets us have a bigger space to work with some of these dogs that are difficult,” Kees said.

Employees will start a log to make sure each animal gets plenty of time in the yard.
