OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — A new mayor was elected to the city of Oak Hill. Daniel Wright won the election and will start his term on July 1, 2019.

Wright is an Oak Hill native and is excited to start implementing change. He hopes to focus on combating the city’s drug issue, aiding the homeless population, and re-opening local businesses that have closed. He said he values transparency with the citizens and hopes that Oak Hill residents will be proud of their city.

Wright said, “”I thought Oak Hill was declining somewhat and I thought, well, someone needs to step forward and see if we can slow it down, slow down the decline and reverse it to make Oak Hill a vibrant city.”

Wright is a retired history professor and has held numerous elected positions in the past. One of his favorite hobbies is to collect historical political memorabilia. Wright said he is ready to take office and begin working.
