GLEN JEAN, WV (WVNS) — As the school year starts to wrap up, parents may be looking for summer activities for their kids and one national park in Fayette County may be able to help. In July 2018, the New River Gorge National River will be hosting free overnight camps at the Camp Brookside Environmental Education Center in Brooks.
Across three weekly sessions, kids between the ages of 9 and 11 will be fishing, hiking, playing games and participating in nightly campfires as a way to learn how to protect the environment while enjoying it.
“We’re targeting activities that they will find fun and engaging and help them learn a little bit more about the park and all of the resources that the park protects here,” said New River spokesperson Julena Campbell.
Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and must be done before June 1st.
