Oak Hill High School students, faculty, and staff are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Oak Hill High School teacher, Mark Lilly, was found dead on Saturday, October 27. His body was found along Grandview Road, near the intersection of Table Rock Road.

Lilly taught physical science, earth science, and chemistry. According to Oak Hill High School Principal, Katie Hayes, he was always on time and rarely missed a day of work. She said he definitely made an impact on the lives of many students and will be missed.

“It has been a really difficult couple of weeks. Last week was probably harder, when we did not know what had happened. Finding out what had happened, brought a certain kind of peace, but it also brought along with it some finality and obvious just sadness and loss,” Hayes said.

Oak Hill High School is providing a dinner for Lilly’s family following the funeral on Saturday, November 3.

The Student Advisory Council is also planning a memorial ride for Mr. Lilly, as he was an avid cyclist. The students want to have all the proceeds go to a scholarship fund for the alumni association at the school. They also want to tag that ride with a ‘Share The Road’ campaign for cyclists like Lilly.
