Raleigh General Hospital volunteers, community members participate in Alzheimer’s walk

Fayette County

MOUNT HOPE, WV (WVNS) — On the morning of September 14, the Hazel Ruby Welcome Center hosted an Alzheimer’s walk, where participants were given different colored flowers depending on who and why they were walking.

Debbie Peyton, Director of Senior Friends at Raleigh General Hopsital, said the walk being held at the Welcome Center was new this year.

“So many people are affected by Alzheimer’s,” Peyton said. “You have somebody in your family or you know somebody. There is hardly anybody that is untouched by this terrible disease.”

Peyton, who lost her father to Alzhiemer’s, said the goal of this walk every year is to raise money to help find a cure for the disease.
