Hiking on the first day of the year is becoming extremely popular across the United States.
This is a great way for hiking enthusiasts to kick start their year with something they enjoy. On January 1, 2019, there is a hike planned at ACE Adventure Resort.
What is so special about this hike, is that it is being lead by someone who used to be confined to a wheel chair. Levi Moore hiked more than 1,000 miles in 2018 and has become a leader for active living in our state. He says he urges people to come join Active Southern West Virginia on this six mile hike.
“If you do resolutions, then starting the first day of the new year being active is a great way to initiate that resolution,” Moore said.
The hike is easy to moderate and will cover trails that overlook stunning views of the gorge. It starts at 10 a.m. at the ACE Resort Welcome Center and ends at 2 p.m. It is expected to be a little chilly, so dress warm.
