OAK HILL, WV. (WVNS)—Two people are in jail after deputies said they stole prescription medication and cash from a home in the Oak Hill area.

On July 28, Fayette County deputies responded to a home on Lochgelly Rd. in Oak Hill for a reported burglary. After investigating, deputies discovered the man who owned the home had not been home for more than a week.

Deputies searched the area and found Amanda Bowyer and Joey Ball around the woods nearby.

According to court documents, both admitted to staying and stealing from the home, but Bowyer told deputies they were allowed to stay in the home.

Deputies contacted the homeowner, who told deputies they were not allowed to stay in the home.

Deputies said cash, prescription medication, needles and debit cards were missing from the home.

Bowyer and Ball have been charged with grand larceny and burglary charges. They remain in the Southern Regional Jail on $25,000 bond.
