HARTS RUN. W. Va. (WVNS)– West Virginia Division of Highways’ workers find a bald eagle that was hit by a car and killed in the Harts Run area of Greenbrier County.
The West Virginia Natural Resources Police posted this statement on their facebook page:
“The workers notified the district four office of the situation and that they had removed the eagle from the road so it would not be tampered with or taken. D-4 officers transported the deceased eagle back to the district office. US Fish and Wildlife was contacted and they are currently making arrangements to take possession of the eagle. Thanks to the DOH personnel, the eagle will be disposed of properly avoiding any possible exploitation had the eagle fallen into the wrong hands.”
Bald Eagles are protected in the United States.
