Firefighters receive new tool to save lives

Greenbrier County

Crews with one Greenbrier County volunteer fire department now have another resource in their efforts to save lives.  The Rupert Volunteer Fire Department received their very own rescue boat.

Firefighters said the boat will help them respond more effectively to water rescues, like the ones they were called to during the 2016 floods which devastated Greenbrier County.  Ronnie McClung, who works for the department, added that the new boat keeps the rescuers safer as well.

“This is probably my third flood that I have worked through, and I feel that if we had something like this, we would have been much safer,” McClung stated.

The boat was purchased locally, from a company in Oak Hill.
