LEWISBURG, W. Va. (WVNS) — Some first time candidates are one step closer to representing their state after winning a nomination for the West Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018.
Cindy Lavender-Bowe has never ran for a political seat. Running on the Democratic ticket, she said she stands for children and education, and wants change around West Virginia.
Lavender-Bowe added she hopes she can persuade voters come November to put her in Charleston.
“I think that the current legislature has not been focusing on the people. I think they have been focusing on big business and corporations. I wanna be a voice for regular west Virginians,” Lavender-Bowe said.
Lavender-Bowe won the 42nd House of Delegates District, along with incumbent Jeff Campbell.
She added she plans to continue going door-to-door to campaign and talk with the people living in the area she hopes to soon represent.
