The newest deputy sheriff in Greenbrier County is officially ready to protect and serve the community.
Desiree Vaught took her oath Wednesday, January 2, 2019, to begin her career in law enforcement.
Vaught will be the only female in an all male department.
“I’m super excited, I’m excited to be a female in I guess a guy’s world. I’m just ready to get started,” Vaught said.
Aside from the excitement of a new job, Vaught told 59 News she is hopeful other women will join the police force as well.
The Sheriff’s Department is still looking to add members to its team. A civil service test will be held in February, 2019.
