Kroger Gives Kids Free Fruit as Healthy Alternative

Greenbrier County

Kroger stores are encouraging your children to make healthy choices when it comes to food.

All Krogers have gained a fruit stand in the produce section offering children 12 years and under one healthy snack. They have bananas, apples and oranges on the stands made and it’s right at eye level so the children can reach with ease.

Kroger officials said they still offer kids a free cookie in the bakery, but they hope they choose the healthier option.

Brian Bernard, Kroger Store Manager in Ronceverte, said as a parent he would prefer his kids to take the fruit.

“We hope produce being the first department in most of our stores that people walk in, that they’ll choose the fruit over the cookie obviously,” Bernard said.

These fruit stands are in the produce section of Kroger stores across the region.
