WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. (WVNS) — A man from White Sulphur Springs is facing criminal charges of kidnapping and battery, according to court documents.

Police arrested Denny Dale Martin, 48, on Wednesday, January 10.  According to police, Martin gave a 19-year-old woman a ride to a grocery story on Friday, January 5.  When the woman asked Martin to take her into town, he started heading the opposite direction on Route 92.

In the car, Martin allegedly began asking the woman sexual questions and inappropriately touching her.  The victim told Martin she was uncomfortable and wanted to get out the car, but Martin allegedly said she couldn’t because “they were in the middle of nowhere.”

Documents state the woman was able to escape by jumping out of Martin’s vehicle.

Martin is charged with kidnapping and two counts of battery. He’s in jail on a $55,000 bond.
