Kids in Bluefield get back-to-school ready

West Virginia News

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS)– Kids in Bluefield had the opportunity to get back-to-school ready Friday, August 2, 2019 thanks to the Family Resource Center.

They could come to the Bluefield City Park to grab a backpack with some school supplies.

Mercer County Child Protect Prevention Coordinator Tonya Lilam said it’s important to help out kids in need before going back to school.

“Making sure children are prepared for school is essential, making sure they excel. Summertime is hard for a lot of families because they’re having to provide extra childcare, extra food, and then you have back to school supply and demand need, so I think it’s important to prepare for those days ahead,” she said.

Kids can also come grab some backpacks Monday at the Princeton Rec Center from Noon to 3:00 p.m.
