WELCH, WV (WVNS) – A man from Bradshaw, WV is facing a laundry list of crimes. It began as a simple traffic stop in the Jolo area for a mechanical problem.
Deputies attempted to pull over 29-year-old Christopher Kenndy on Saturday, April 6, 2019. The stop was for having a light out, but the situation escalated quickly when Kennedy sped away rather than stopping.
The car chase ended at a home in Threeforks, WV when Kennedy, who was driving, and two women jumped from the vehicle and ran off. Deputies were able to capture the women quickly but had to chase Kennedy into the woods.
When deputies caught up with Kennedy, he turned to fight. Deputy P.S. Mullins attempted to use a taser to stop Kennedy, that is when the suspect took the taser from the deputy and tried to use it on the officer. Deputy Mullins used necessary force to get control of the situation and held Kennedy until State Troopers arrived.
A search of the vehicle tuned up suboxone. A blood test confirmed Kennedy was under the influence of drugs.
Kennedy is facing charges of fleeing, DUI, obstruction, disarming a law enforcement officer, malicious assault on an officer, destruction of property, no insurance, no registration and other charges. He is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
