One person is dead following an ATV accident in McDowell County.
According to officers with the Welch Police Department, the victim is 51-year-old, Brian Thompson, from Welch.
The accident happened on Route 16 in the Riverside Drive area of Welch around 3:20 p.m. on August 9.
Thompson reportedly lost control while riding an ATV and flipped over the handlebars. Officers added he was not wearing a helmet.
