An arrest is made in a bomb threat investigation in Mercer County.

Bluefield Police said a threat was called into the Bluefield, WV Police Department on Sunday at 2:31 p.m.

After tracing the number the call was made from, Det. J.B. Fox conducted an interview with an inmate at the Bluefield City Jail..   That’s where a suspect was identified as Roger Nelson.

Detective Fox said Nelson’s girlfriend, Kayla Thurman was an inmate in the jail.   Fox said Thurman could not make bond and Nelson believed if he called in a bomb threat to the jail, it would be forced to close and Thurman would have to be released.

Nelson was found on Bluefield Avenue and taken into custody.

He now faces charges of Terroristic Threats and Disruption of Government Process.  Nelson is awaiting arraignment in Bluefield City Jail.
