Bluefield’s Annual Clean-Up Beautifies the City

Mercer County

Getting “Nature’s Air-Conditioned City” looking fabulous for spring.

The 4th annual Clean-up day in Bluefield was finally held today. The clean-up was originally scheduled for April 9th, but was pushed back due to weather.  It’s all part of Mercer county’s love where you live campaign. Community members picked up 100 tires and 8 tons of trash.

“I’ll tell you one thing we’re noticing this year, is that there is not as much trash in some of the trouble spots that we got, so we’re able to hit a lot more and canvas a lot more. But there’s still a lot of people who think it’s okay to illegally dump, ” Dane Rideout, City of Bluefield Manager, said.

Next year’s clean up will be sometime at the end of march in 2019, if Mother Nature cooperates
