GREEN VALLEY, WV (WVNS) — A shooting in the Green Valley area of Mercer County has left one man in the hospital, according to deputies.

Detective Cpl. Matthew Horn said the shooting happened at a home on Mountaineer Lane around 4:40 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019. Horn said when they arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old man lying on the floor and bleeding. A witness told officers the victim said he was shot and stabbed four times. The victim was also shot in both legs and the wrist. He was taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center and then flown to a hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Deputies do not believe the victim’s injuries are life-threatening.

Detective Horn said he believes this shooting could possibly be related to two other home invasions in the area. “We don’t normally have a problem with home invasions, but here recently it’s become a problem,” Horn said.

Right now, deputies are working on identifying a suspect. Stay with 59 News for the latest information on this developing story.
