Early morning shooting sends one to hospital in Lashmeet

UPDATE: 1/27/2019 AT 1:00 P.M.

We now know the name of the victim from a shooting early Sunday morning in Mercer County. According to dispatch, the call came in around 4:30 a.m. on January 27 to Gillenwater Lane in the Lashmeet area. 

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, 20-year-old Kolton Burdette was shot once in the abdomen area after two people broke into his home. Deputies said the two suspects fled the scene and Burdette was transportated to the hospital for his injuries. 

Deputies are still looking for the two people in connection to the home invasion. 

Anyone with information on this break-in and shooting is urged to contact Corporal Horn at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. All tips can remain confidential.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an early morning shooting.

Dispatchers said the call came in around 4:30a.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019, in the Lashmeet area.

Mercer County Sheriff’s Department along with Princeton Rescue Squad were on scene. Dispatchers said one person was transported to the hospital, the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. 

The shooting is still under investigation.
