A struggle with cancer takes the life of a long standing member of Mercer County’s law enforcement community.  Former Chief Deputy Darrell Bailey passed away at noon on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018.

Bailey served as a Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy for more than 33 years.  He retired in January 2017.  A ceremony was held in December 2016 in Judge William Sadler’s courtroom.  Bailey commented on his career at the luncheon.

“It feels great and it is a bitter sweet moment for me because I’m going to miss it terribly,” said Bailey   “I’m going to miss the people more than anything.”

There is no word at this time on funeral arrangements.
